Sewing as a Hobby for Seniors

Sewing as a hobby for seniors is one of the easiest hobbies for many to pick up. You may have learned to sew 30 or 40 years ago. Some of the women then had to sew their families clothes. Over the years you may have forgotten some of the techniques. As you get back into the craft it will come back to you. With the economy the way it is many woman are sewing again and selling their goods at craft shows or on the internet.

This way they can supplement their income. Your grandchildren may want to learn the art of crochet or knitting and you can teach them. You probably learned the art from from your Mother or other family member. Sometimes physical problems like failing eyesight and arthritis cause older people to have trouble working with their hands. If you check it out you can find things to help you to still enjoy your sewing. They have needles with bigger eyes so you can see to thread them. You can switch up to larger hooks for crochet or bigger needles for knitting.

If your choice is cross stitch you can go to a larger count fabric or use monks cloth. You can go to a needlework shop near you and they can help you find what you need. The internet has sites you can look at if the local store can't help you. One other thing that can help is a magnifying glass. They even have them to hang around your neck so your hands are free. Hopefully this will allow you to still enjoy the hobby you love so well.
