The Power Of Computer Games

Computer games have come a long way over the years. Say the name Pong and a lot of older people will smile. Most older people will remember Dos-based games played on a computer that has less power than the average calculator now days. Next came game stations like Atari, Game Boy and the XBox. Now online games played over the Internet have taken over.

Computer games come in many different types. Unless the game is online, it will be a one-person game. A lot of these one-person games are educational. There is no better way to learn to type than playing a game. Almost anything a child is learning in school can be reinforced by a computer game. Puzzle games like Bejeweled and Tetris have become very popular because of how easy they are to learn to play. The Internet games have become a social gathering place for people to play all kinds of games. A majority of these online games are first person or 3rd person games of fighting or shooting of some sort. Interacting with other people, even if you are in a room all by yourself, is a big part of these games. One problem with some of the online games is that you lose track of time and become addicted to them. First-person shooter games (FPS) and Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) can take a long time to learn and have clubs that meet at the same time to play.

If you are playing to learn something or just having fun, computer games can do both as well as help you with hand-eye coordination. With the Wii game system, you can even get a good workout in as you play.
