Knitting is a Senior Hobby

Many seniors are having a difficult time finding a hobby to keep them busy. Some seniors complain that they are unable to do many of the things they used to enjoy doing. Seniors say that the older they become the harder it is for them to do the things they like. One hobby that is said to be very easy to do and relaxing for seniors is knitting. There are even seniors with vision impairments that are able to knit.

Knitting is a good opportunity to be able to get away, think, and to make interesting things. There are many different items seniors can knit such as scarfs, sweaters, shawls, hats, socks, slippers, and much more. They also could knit to get paid or just to have fun. There are a lot of patterns to choose from some of course are harder then others.

For beginners the cast-on stitch seems to be the favorite because it will be easier to get the hang of it, and it will also be stretchy. There are other different kinds of knitting stitches like the Continental Methods which is also called German Method and left-hand knitting. The English Method or also called the American Method have basic steps and easy to learn. Purl Stitching is just right for seniors who can't see very well or can't see at all. The reason that was said is because you will have to put the needle in a certain spot to be able to do the Purl Stitching.
