If you like to garden, it can be a terrific hobby and it can bring you great joy. Many times, you will work outside and it will bring you closer to nature. You can take a piece of land and turn it into something gorgeous by nurturing vegetables, herbs, or beautiful flowers. Gardening can also provide you with the exercise that you need to stay healthy.
As a senior, you may be limited in the amount of work that you do. You should try to take things in baby steps to see what you can do. You need to till the soil for planting, and you can do this a little at a time. Even if you want to go out and get your hands dirty, you need to keep the doctor's orders in mind and try to take it easy. If you find you can't do everything that needs to be done, get others involved in your garden. Perhaps invite a friend over to share in your gardening hobby or introduce a grandchild to the joys of gardening.
You can plant little boxes of flowers to help you get used to it. This is a great way to get you started. You may be able to get your grandkids to help you with this because they always love to get their hands dirty. Many times, you can get them to visit you to help you out with the garden. When it is time to harvest your plants, make sure they are there to help you and make sure you give them all the praise. This will be a great pastime that they will truly enjoy.
