If you are a senior citizen and retired, you may be looking for something to do with all that time on your hands. So why not do some traveling? You might find out that these years are truly your "Golden Years." The first thing you want to figure out is where you want to go, and how much it will cost. Again, you can go to the Internet or a travel agent for the answers. Of course, you will want to go to a place of interest to you, or you can ask what is available at a certain price to fit your budget. Some travel companies allow you to make a payment to hold your reservations and then you pay the rest when you begin your travel.

There are many bus tours and ship cruises designed for seniors. You need to do the research and make sure that everything is legitimate before paying any money. Be sure to ask for all the senior discounts that are available, such as airlines, cruises and hotels, etc. You could also buy an RV (recreational vehicle) and travel anywhere in the United States at your leisure. Starting at your backyard and going across the United States would take some time, so be sure to have someone take care of your mail and newspapers and put some lights in your house on a timer to come on at night.

Baby boomers are now becoming the seniors of today and this population is growing. The travel industry is very aware of this and they try to accommodate you in every way. They want your business. Senior citizens today spend 20% of their lives in retirement, whereas three decades ago that number was only 3%. So relax, research, plan, and enjoy your travels.
