Cafts for Seniors

Crafts are fun for everyone regardless of how old they might be. They allow you to use your imagination, be creative and express yourself. As senior citizens, it may be more difficult to do some activities, but crafts would not be one of them. A lot of people simply think that seniors would enjoy needle work of some sort, such as crochet, needlepoint, quilting or knitting, but this requires non arthritic hands and very good eyesight which, unfortunately, most seniors are dealing with.

With the use of daily activities such as hobbies and crafts, seniors have found that they keep their minds active, sleep better and have a healthier outlook on life. They may no longer be able to participate in sports or other outdoor activities, but they can incorporate those interests into their craft making. Painting is another type of craft. Draw a picture on canvas and then paint over it yourself. The beauty of this is that if you don't like it, toss it. Painting is one of the less expensive crafts, and as most senior citizens are on a budget, this craft hobby will not break the bank. Another wonderful project would be scrap booking. In this manner, the senior citizen can make a wonderful accounting of their life's beginning, middle and later life to include family members and grandchildren.

Regardless of the craft, it is important that our senior citizens keep their minds working and active, as this will improve their overall health.
