Seniors can have an active life just as well as young people can. You just may have to alter some things a little. It’s true as we get older, we do slow down a little. It’s important as you get older to see and mingle with your friends and family as much as possible. Especially if you’ve lost a spouse, you need to keep active so depression doesn’t set in.
The dinner parties you give don’t have to be as elaborate as they used to be. In fact it may be better to have your main meal in the middle of the day instead of at night. If you’re having a get together make sure it’s not too much on you. Instead of a meal maybe you could have a snack and a game of cards. Most seniors don’t enjoy going out at night, except for special occasions. They tend to have an earlier bedtime than they used to.
If you’re a busy senior and you are a bit frugal there are plenty of things to keep you busy. You could visit an art museum. They serve wine and hors d’oeuvres and you get to meet the owners and the artists and socialize with other art lovers. You could volunteer at the professional theater as an usher or to pass out programs or to help paying customers find their seats. If you’re a female you can join the Red Hat Society. Just grab a friend and do something, whether it’s a knitting group or a book club, just do it.
