Fishing For Seniors

As an exciting hobby for active seniors, fishing is a fun, and relaxing, way to spend your day. Fishing is a great way for older people to get outdoors, breathe some fresh air, get a little exercise, and enjoy themselves. Staying active also provides oneself with a sense of independence and freedom. In a recent study, 30% of seniors go fishing as part of their health and fitness routine. Fishing also helps to relieve stress and can give you a great feeling of peace. It is also a great time for seniors to teach the younger generations the importance of fishing as well as wildlife conservation.

There are a few different reasons why fishing is popular among seniors today. Fishing for sport and mounting your catch on your wall. Catching and releasing the fish or you can also eat what you catch. Fish contain Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that provide a good source of nutrients that are very beneficial to humans.

On top of all that fishing can be a relatively inexpensive hobby. You can pick up a rod, reel, tackle, and bait really cheap. Even licenses are usually discounted a few dollars for seniors. A new proposal will give seniors 62 and older the opportunity to fish all over the country without the fuss of being forced to buy an out-of-state fishing license. There are even senior only fishing tournaments, where seniors can go out and compete for trophies and prizes. Going fishing is also a great way for seniors to meet other fishermen who have similar interests and values.
